DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The drivers of both vehicles involved in a crash on the Martin Road late Tuesday afternoon had to be extricated.
A 70 year old man from Rice Lake was taken to the hospital with extensive injuries.
According to witnesses, a van traveling east on the Martin Road crossed into oncoming traffic and was hit by a truck traveling west near the intersection with the Howard Gnesen Road.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department says weather conditions and alcohol are suspected to be contributing factors in the crash.
That was the most serious of numerous accidents in the region due to the early season snowfall and vehicles traveling too fast for the slippery road conditions.
