DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Early Sunday morning, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a severely damaged vehicle in the ditch on the 5400 block of the Jean Duluth Road.
Responding deputies found the driver and lone occupant dead inside the vehicle.
The vehicle was traveling north when it left the roadway, stuck a driveway embankment, became airborne and hit two trees about 15 feet off the ground before coming to rest on its roof.
The victim was identified as 30 year old Anthony Louis Makela.
The sheriff’s office and Medical Examiner are investigating the factors contributing to the crash.
