(LEARFIELD/PACKERS) – In prepping for this Sunday’s game between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings, the Packers have to get ready for 2 somewhat unexpected things.
First is the Vikings re-signing safety Harrison Smith which is something Packers coach Matt LaFleur talked about on Wednesday.
Second is defensive co-ordinator Jonathan Gannon’s familiarity with Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray which LaFleur also addressed.
Among other topics LaFleur addressed were the Packers Big 3 wide receivers of Christian Watson, Matthew Golden and Jayden Reed.
And whether or not running back Kaleb Johnson will be able to help this week.
LaFleur added that opening the season in Minnesota won’t be easy because U.S. Bank Stadium is a tough place to play.
He also addressed how important it is to get the season off to a good start.
The other sideline: From the Minnesota viewpoint, Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell talked about the regular season finally getting here.
O’Connell also addressed Harrison Smith rejoining the team.
O’Connell said that it will be important for the Vikings to play complimentary football.
Minnesota wide receiver Justin Jefferson will be entering seventh year in the league and talked about that.
Jefferson likes what he’s seen from Kyler Murray.
And the injury report: One can’t have the NFL season starting without players already dinged up.
For Green Bay on Wednesday, Zach Bako-Bewele, Aaron Banks, Javon Hargrave, Jordan Morgan, Barrynb Sorrell and Devonte Wyatt all had limited participation. Warren Brinson and Ty’Ron Hopper did not participate in practice.
From the Vikings lockerroom, safety Jacob Thomas and tackle Caleb Tiernan were limited in practice while safety Jakobe Thomas did not participate.
