DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Duluth Mayor Roger Reinert took to the stage at Denfeld High School to deliver the State of the City address on Thursday evening.
During his speech, the mayor concentrated on the five issues he based his campaign on, the steps taken in each area and the work yet to be done to achieve his goals.
Reinert pledged to hold the city’s property tax levy flat after a 50 percent growth in the last eight years.
Housing continues to be an issue and he would like to see more people move into the downtown area.
Saying the city needs to have a “growth mentality”, Reinert says growing the population by three thousand people before the 2030 census would “move the needle” on big issues including growing the tax base and economy, revitalizing downtown and spreading out the existing tax burden.
