DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The National Weather Service Office in Duluth has issued a Red Flag Warning for all of north central and northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin on Friday.
The warning means that a combination of strong winds, low humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Any fires that develop will spread rapidly and outdoor burning is not recommended.
The Red Flag Warning will be in effect from noon until 9 p-m Friday and could be extended into Saturday.
West winds on Friday are expected at 15 to 25 miles per hour with gusts to 40 and relative humidity as low as 15 percent.
The Superior Fire Department has issued a burning ban for any open fires including campfires from noon Friday until 9 p-m on Saturday.
